There were guided tours, previews, football and tennis matches (including Fed Cup matches) and many more opportunities to check out the extensive sports and fitness facilities of the True Arena Hua Hin Sports Centre in the weeks leading up to the official Grand Opening. The Grand Opening on 18th March was a presentation of many Thailand elite sport’s performers demonstrating their skills with volleyball, futsbal, rugby, badminton, basketball, tennis, boxing and football players ‘strutting their stuff’ either at the indoor gymnasium or on the outdoor football fields and tennis courts.

The main ‘100 plus’ tennis court was transformed with a stage to allow the presentation of Muay Thai and acrobatic performers before entertainers from ‘The Voice’ and ‘AF’ joined the show with a mini concert. ‘Life imitated art’ as a whitened human figure imitated the giant True Arena entrance statue, albeit without the oversized shoes and without a cover to his tennis racket! After giving guests a demonstration of their basketball prowess ‘shooting hoops’ at the indoor gymnasium, His Excellency Suwat Liptapanlop, and Suphanchai Chearavanont, CEO of True Corporation took centre stage with Ms Proudputh Liptapanlop, Executive Director of Proud Real Estate and Marut Buranasetkul, Senior Vice Chairman of Thai Beverage PLc as True Area Hua Hin was declared officially open.

The sporting credentials of former Deputy Prime Minister, His Excellency Suwat Liptapanlop, are extensive. In 2009 he was elected vice president of the National Olympic Committee of Thailand for a four-year term. He is also the President of the Lawn Tennis Association of Thailand and has also been a Board Member of the International Tennis Federation and the President of the organising committee for the 2012 FIFA Futsal World Cup in Thailand.
