The long-running US$300,000 Queen’s Cup has celebrated its seventh consecutive edition on the Asian Tour last month. It was a week to remember especially for the home crowd who got to witness local veteran Prayad Marksaeng lifting the Queen’s Cup trophy for the second time in three years at the challenging Santiburi Samui Country Club at Koh Samui. M.L. Nandhika Varavarn, Vice President of sponsors Bangkok Airways hailed the success of the Queen’s Cup, which was held to honour her Majesty Queen Sirikit.
“We want to honour our Queen through the staging of the Queen’s Cup and because golf and tourism are linked, our aim is also to boost tourism on this beautiful island. We hope players will want to bring their families here and enjoy the island after the tournament.” “We have been sponsoring this event for the past seven years and it has always been very successful. We are happy to see golfers enjoying this tournament and returning to compete this week. This year, we saw a lot of new faces which makes the tournament even more exciting, given the challenging course,” said Nandhika.
