From 1 to 3 December 2010, a beach volleyball championship was organized in Cha-Am by the Cha-Am Municipality, the Volleyball Association of Asia and the Volleyball Association of Thailand. This event will select both male and female winners for the London Olympic Games in 2012.
Participated by 2 male and 2 female volleyball teams from Vietnam, Laos PDR and Thailand, this event will allow winners to go for the beach volleyball championship of South East Asia in the mid of 2011. Subsequently, winners from each of the South East Asian countries will attend the final round in the beginning of 2012 so that they will represent Asia for the London Olympic Games.
During the upcoming beach volleyball championship in Cha-Am, all participants from the three countries will compete with each other until the first and the second runner up are found for another beach volleyball championship of South East Asia next year. The winners for the competition are both male and female volleyball players from Thailand whereas those from Vietnam are the 2nd runner up. Both will go for the championship of South East Asia in the mid of 2011.
