A Day at V Villa
A Day at V Villa

Arriving at the porte cochere, one is struck by the understated elegance that defines V Villas Hua Hin, MGallery by Sofitel.

Three huge cloth chandeliers were billowing overhead in the open-air lobby upon my arrival. I was greeted with a cold towel and a traditional Thai phuang malai (garland), handmade with fragrant jasmine flowers. I was quickly met by my personal butler, Khun Bee, who would be at my beck and call during my entire stay. Khun Bee escorted me to my private and luxurious 1-bedroom pool villa, explaining the general layout of the resort as we walked. When we arrived, she opened the main door onto an expansive covered patio that led to my private pool We entered the villa and I was struck by the high ceilings and the attention to detail at every turn. From the entrance foyer we worked our way to the well-appointed bathroom replete with a jacuzzi tub (and rubber ducks!), into the master bedroom, and finally back to a living room.

At this point my butler pulled out a cell phone and handed it to me – this was a direct line to her phone and I could contact her whenever I needed anything. Then she gave me an iPad, in which everything I needed to know about the resort and more was loaded – from “A” for Activities to “V” for Villazzo restaurant. But first things first – I had to take a dip in my private swimming pool! I changed into my bathing suit (actually, I skinny dipped but this is a family paper) and took the plunge. After swimming a few laps and just relaxing in the jet bubbles at one end of the pool, I decided to explore the beautiful property. Among the 23 villas are a selection of one, two and threebedroom suites – and the crown jewel – an expansive and luxuriously decadent Presidential Beachfront Villa.

The interiors are the work of the famed J+H Boiffils architectural and interior design firm. Welcoming bedrooms are decorated with unique accessories and tasteful furnishings, while the spacious en suite bathrooms include a rain shower, a twin Jacuzzi, and amenities by Hermès. and each villa includes a 9×3.75 metre swimming pool. From the lobby, there is a paved path straight to the ocean. Flanking this path are the private villas, which are surrounded by shrubbery at least 3 metres high. It was impossible to see into anyone’s villa due to the design and the foliage. Definitely gives a feeling of exclusivity and luxury.

I made my way down toward the ocean, taking a quick peek at V Spa. There are a few well-appointed treatment rooms, and all services can be booked via your butler. A great feature here is treatments are offered in-villa as well, providing personalised luxury and comfort of a full-service spa in the privacy of your private villa. Before arriving at the beach, there is pool open to all guests. That is correct – if your private pool isn’t enough, you can join the other guests at a larger pool overlooking the Gulf of Thailand. Dotted around the pool deck are lounge chairs. Also poolside is the Villazzo Restaurant.

Acclaimed for its exceptional cuisine and service, the eatery serves its cuisine al fresco or in air-conditioned comfort. The restaurant serves breakfast, lunch and dinner and is open from 7am to 11pm. My butler had mentioned afternoon tea in my suite at 3pm, so I made my way back and was delighted to find a tiered serving tray full of sweet and savoury items. There are so many personal touches (V Pillow menu, complete Wi-Fi coverage, a dedicated iPad) at V Villas Hua Hin that even the most discerning traveler will be impressed.
