The food festival will take place parallel to the countdown for the New Year in Hua Hin, said the Deputy Mayor Mr. Suwit Rienrungreung.
The event, which is the last tourism promotion campaign for 2011, will be organized between 27 December 2011 and 2 January 2012 at the 19- Rai Queen Sirikit Memorial Park in Hua Hin.
Highlighting fresh sea food and various traditional and local Thai cuisines, the Hua Hin food festival also offers stage performances by local students of the city, a contest of youth music bands, a singing contest and mini-concerts of famous Thai singers. On 31 December, visitors and local people will enjoy the countdown to the New Year at midnight.
The Deputy Mayor of Hua Hin said further that the city was one of the most famous holiday getaways in Thailand thanks to a lot of local, provincial and even international cultural and sport activities throughout the year. The food festival and the New Year celebration are activities well-known among tourists as they are good occasions when tourists can enjoy eating and have great fun at the same time.
Apart from the countdown on 31 December, a Buddhist ceremony will be held early in the morning of 1 January when Buddhist monks get alms from local people and bless them in return so that their life will prosper in the year to come.
Since a lot of people will flock in the city and traffic may become sluggish, visitors are advised to use public transportation to and from Hua Hin.
