Construction of the crystal lagoon at the Mahasamutr Country Club has achieved a milestone. During our visit on 13th August, Club Manager James McManaman was beaming. For the first time there were boats on the water and he ‘officially’ declared the inland ocean to be full! Maybe next time we will be able to take a cruise!

Of course the promised crystal clarity of the lagoon was yet to be achieved but now the monitoring, filtration and treatment of the water can be put into operation and the Country Club’s star attraction will soon become a reality. At some 800 metres in length, 72,000 square metres in area and depths of up to 2.4 metres, Asia has never seen anything like this. Hua Hin will soon have available a new focal point for leisure, recreation and aquatic activity unlike any other.

This cutting edge technology offers exclusive waterside living for Members of the Country Club to savour and for families to relish. Planned activities include yachting, SCUBA lessons and kayaking apart from relaxing after a casual swim on a sandy beach. Although not a familiar scene in Thailand, the private Country Club scene is well established worldwide and a lifelong interest in Manager James’ background. He has travelled the world and understands this form of exclusive lifestyle intimately. Systems to allow Member to manage their own particular style of indoor and outdoor sports and fitness recreation will provide for quality family time without compromise. This is far from the old Butlin’s British Holiday Camp!

The list of activities are virtually endless. Apart from the huge lagoon other recreational venues are also taking shape with the construction of waterside villas also happening. Membership for the Mahasamutr Country Club are currently in an introductory phase and can be discussed with staff at the Membership Pavilion on Soi 112 next to the entrance. A new category allows for Hua Hin residents to enjoy weekday access to the sports and recreational facilities when Bangkok travellers are less likely. With this special Weekday Membership, full access to restaurants, lounges and social areas is available.
