J-Jetrin is a Thai show business legend. Jetrin Wattanasin or “J Jetrin” is a musician and actor who has been performing his brand of hip hop for the last 25 years; he will turn 46 years old this month.
The Chandelier ballroom at the Sheraton on 10th September proved to be a very appealing venue for the nearly 1,000 concert-goers, typically in the 20-30 year old age group who had grown up with his music and wre very eager to see the legend in action; they weren’t disappointed.
J-etrin released his debut solo album Jor-Ae-Bor in 1991; his popularity is not restricted to Thailand, with concerts worldwide, including tours in the US, concerts in Amsterdam, Hamburg, London and Sydney to name just a few.
The music has been described as ‘a poppy brand of hip-hop’. As well as the jeans not falling below the waist-line and the cap being worn with the peak at the front, J-Jetrin’s performance had commercial appeal rather than without a less savoury ‘gangsta’ image being present either on the stage or in the audience. “The thing about hip-hop today is it’s smart, it’s insightful. The way they can communicate a complex message in a very short space is remarkable”. The Sheraton plans to hold more concerts from pop, rock to hip hop during April, June & September 2017; stayed tuned!
