Mamma Mia is a beautiful restaurant on the busiest road of Hua Hin, Narasdamri Rd. As it was next to our old office, I used to often have lunches there, not by chance but by choice! I love their food and you can always personalise their dishes, everything is fresh made. They also have take away pizzas, but I really enjoy eating at the restaurant to enjoy the special aperitifs that I adore; chicken liver mousse, tomato salsa and fresh warm bread! The restaurant is classy and all the staff very professional with good English language skills.
When I arrived at the restaurant Mr. Claudio and his wife were having lunch and looking like they were really enjoying it. I ordered the special dish of the day which is really a very close to my heart; a dish as we have it also in Greek cuisine; ‘Octopus Salad’. This difficult to cook and that’s why you won’t find it in many places even though it is just so delicious.
The octopus was perfectly done and I will have it again if it’s still on the menu. I had not eaten pasta for a long time because I am always on a diet, but I had to order it here, at the home of pasta! Ravioli filled with porcini mushrooms in batter, fresh sage, rosemary and parmesan sauce. I think they make the name of the dish so long that while you are reading you visualise it and want it more. Of course the ravioli was mouthwatering! I did clean my dish of all the sauce with an extra piece of bread. Now you know why I am always on a diet and always will be! The guilty afternoon hadn’t finished yet!
I had ordered a pizza four formazie! I can promise you I only had one piece and the rest came with me in back to the office. Mamma Mia pizza is famous, as the special pizza dough is crisp, thin on the side and a little bit more moisture in the middle, exactly how I love it and cooked in a wood oven. Go for it and you won’t regret one mouth full! I finished my lunched with a complimentary lemon sorbet which was prepared by the lovely lady owner.
Note: I forgot to mention that because the parking area is now being repaired; Mr. Claudio offers his customers a tuk tuk service. So now you have no excuse to go and try it! Every evening the beautiful rooftop of the restaurant is open, taking you somewhere else away far away!
