Bangkok-based Chef Chet Adkins to cook up new vibes at Beach Society from 14 – 18 October 2021

SO Sofitel Hua Hin kicks off this year’s guest chef series in partnership with JUA, the Bangkok eatery known for its stylish interpretations of Japanese and Korean comfort food. 

The “SO Sofitel Hua Hin x JUA” pop-up event will see the latter’s Chef Chet Adkins recreate his restaurant’s delightfully unpretentious concept at Beach Society for lunch and dinner from 14 – 18 October 2021. 

“We are excited to launch our SO Sofitel Hua Hin guest chef series with a much-anticipated pop-up restaurant by JUA, and we are delighted to welcome Chef Chet and his team to Beach Society. We look forward to unveiling more wine and dine experiences in the near future, which we can’t wait to share with our guests!” said Shubham Chandra, Cluster General Manager of SO Sofitel Hua Hin. 

JUA’s modern Izakaya concept of sharing food lends itself to Beach Society’s convivial atmosphere, with its kushiyaki (meat or vegetable skewers grilled over Japanese charcoal), providing guests the opportunity to connect over food and enjoy each other’s company. 

Over the five-day event, guests will have the opportunity to sample Chef Chet’s creations, including an aromatic charcoal grilled pork belly skewers with Korean gochujang sauce and negi slaw. Other appetisers include a fresh grilled tiger prawn with garlic butter and uni (sea urchin) pasta, featuring orecchiette with Hokkaido uni, uni butter, ikura, freshly grated wasabi and nori seaweed. For the main course, delight on flavour of Yellowfin Tuna Tataki; Seared Yellowfin Tuna served with Maitake mushrooms, Wakame, White Sesame and Tosazu sauce.

“My love and respect for Japanese food inspired me to open a modern Izakaya restaurant in Bangkok in 2017,” said Chet Adkins, Executive Chef and Co-Owner of JUA. “We couldn’t have found a better partner and destination by the sea to showcase our signature Japanese and Korean flavours,” added the American chef who has three decades of experience cooking and running restaurants across the world. 

Earlier this year, Beach Society revamped its menu with new lunch and dinner selections, and announced a line-up of quarterly guest mixologist and guest chef events to infuse excitement into the seafront dining experience. “Beach Society’s menu are also available during at that time as well, for guests’ choices of dining experience. Our culinary glam factor is turned up with signature dishes including pan seared foie gras with caramelized mango; pan seared wild sea bass fillet; and slow cooked beef cheek” said Chef Tobias Schwarzendorfer, Executive Chef of SO Sofitel Hua Hin.

Since its major expansion in 2018, SO Sofitel Hua Hin has been enchanting guests with a choice of leisure facilities, including three swimming pools, one being the Signature Pool with an inflatable water pool adventure course, as well as SO/ FIT, SO/ SPA, four bars and restaurants.

The name JUA, meaning to draw a card, references the restaurant premise’s former gambling den notoriety, but when it comes to a partnership with Beach Society, the collab is bound to be a sure win. 

 “SO Sofitel Hua Hin x JUA” will take place at Beach Society for from 12 pm – 8:30 pm from 14 – 18 October 2021.
