Sunday Brunch at The Oceanside Beach Club and Restaurant

William Grimes, a writer with the New York Times, gives his overview of a Sunday Brunch experience: “Instead of England’s early Sunday dinner, a post church ordeal of heavy meats and savory pies, why not a new meal, served around noon. By eliminating the need to get up early on Sunday, brunch makes life brighter for Saturday-night carousers”. It promotes human happiness in other ways as well. Brunch is cheerful, sociable and inciting; it is talk-compelling. It puts you in a good temper, it makes you satisfied with yourself and your fellow being sand it sweeps away the worries and cobwebs of the week.”

Putahracsa Hua HinResort General Manager Manuel Lang, or ‘Mannu’ as he is also known, is the welcoming host at the Oceanside Beach Club and Restaurant Sunday Brunch. He offers a delightful way for you to know that this is the weekend (sometimes hard to tell in Thailand), just one of bonuses of the Sunday Bruch experience. The Oceanside is a venue that showcases all the attributes of a beach frontage with as a swimming pool backdrop. Add to that the mellow sounds of the resident Phillippino Duoof guitarist Kop and singer Paula and you’re set to while away the hours. We were welcomed with the signature drink; sparkling wine with lime sherbet and mint. On the drinks front there’s also the free flow of Wine, sparkling wine and soft drinks as well as selected cocktails. Somehow beer doesn’t seem to fit the occasion but of course that’s on offer. Chef Wat is in charge of the culinary ‘temple’ serving a buffet of around 50 taste-tempters with food highlights including:

– Raw Seafood Bar with Alaskan King Crab and Phuket LobsterOyster
– Seafood on Ice
– BBQ Seafood, Beef, Chicken and Pork
– Pan seared Foie Gras with Brioche and
– Strawberry Confit (seared a la minute)
– Pass around Pizza
– Ice Cream
– Ob oon Pastry Selection
– Sushi and Sashimi Selection
– Selection of Main Courses, Salads,
– Appetizers and Desserts

The focus of the multiple offerings is clearly on the lunch-end of brunch. You won’t find typical breakfast ‘fodder’ such as bacon, sausages or even toast. Seafood is a standout which may be barbecued or on ice. This is a gourmet’s delight culminating in the sweet treats from the Putahracsa’s own Ob oon pastry, from just across the frontage road. Fresh is always a prerequisite and the quantities are up to you, all you’ll ever need. Sunday Brunch at The Oceanside Beach Club and Restaurant is a fantastic way to chill-out on a lazy Sunday. Inviting friends or visiting family to Sunday Brunch ticks all the boxes for that relaxed, sociable taste of Hua Hin by the sea hospitality and a perfect end to your weekend.
