Why we make excuses?

Most people have the desire to improve their life; be it financially, emotionally, mentally or physically. However often health comes in last place. People put in endless hours working to make more money, learning to gain more knowledge or even going on meditation retreats to find calmness and serenity; but avoid being physically active and starting a training program that would give them the body and health they desire. Everyone now knows the dangers of inactivity, being overweight, too sedentary and overeating.

Why then is it so difficult to live a healthy lifestyle and to maintain a training program that becomes a way of life? All too often I hear, “it’s too difficult”, “it’s so hard”, “it hurts so much”. When people start a new training program, they may feel some muscular soreness; a common physical response. But mentally, it turns people off; for reasons only they know. They don’t like feeling their body is uncomfortable, yet carrying around an extra 20 kgs. or more, feeling bloated and weak is ok. We have replaced feeling healthy with an acceptance of feeling overweight and tired. It seems we are unable to muster the energy to change and the EFFORT to reverse these trends and make ourselves whole and complete on the physical level. We do not like feeling the “pain of EFFORT”. We all think training and getting back into shape is painful and it often times is! So we avoid it like the plague.

We can tolerate the low level consistent pain of being overweight, but we have a much more difficult time tolerating the pain of Effort. But this pain is temporary and needed. When you see a change, a difference in yourself, you begin to understand that struggling with your weight has kept you from really enjoying life itself. I am not at all against drinking, having a good time, eating a great meal or having fun. I only suggest balance and moderation in all things; even exercise. At POWERFIT 102, the only thing you have to do is show up; we will help you with the rest. We will train you in your initial sessions, usually for the first month or so. We teach you how to go through the basic functional fitness full body exercises. This is a part of your membership. The first month or two, we strive to teach you conditioning programs that lead to real training. No need to be sore and uncomfortable or in so much pain you can’t get out of bed the next day; easy and light to begin. Then as you learn more, you naturally progress into more intensity, with your body and mind accepting the challenge of increased effort. The only real thing you need is time and consistency. We also offer weight training for those who wish to learn how to use weights to sculpt and build their body, men and women alike. Food and eating habits are addressed. We also offer the only real way to know your true body fat %, lean muscle mass, caloric intake, water retention, body mass index, plus more…. Exact measurements are taken with medical equipment not flimsy callipers that cannot be accurate. What Do We mean by EFFORT?………….

E-Energy, F-Fun, F-Focus, O-Organisation, R-Realist Goals, T-Time. If you can manage this EFFORT, then you can change the quality of your life. No extremes; just a well-balanced and maintained healthy life. Yoga is included in your membership. We have beginner and more advanced yoga classes taught by my wife and partner who has been trained in India by authentic Ashtanga Vinyasa Yoga Mysore teachers with over 30 years of direct lineage experience. This is not a watered down versions of someone else’s idea of yoga. You will not be pushed too hard or too fast. She is gentle and yet powerful in her teaching and is an expert in alignment and postures (asana). Our students will happily vouch for her; just ask for a recommendation from any one of them! We also offer other classes, including BOOTCAMPS and our newest program; Training for Life! Starting in July, POWERFIT 102 GYM, will be home of Dr. Patrick Erickson from Dspine Clinic in Bangkok.
