Health officials on Friday (Aug 13) reported 240 new COVID-19 cases, 27 of which were found in Hua Hin.
The surge in cases was linked to a cluster at a fruit canning factory in Sam Roi Yot.
Elsewhere in the province, 5 cases were found in Pranburi, 164 cases in Sam Roi Yot, 20 cases in Kuiburi, 2 cases in Thap Sakae, 6 cases in Bang Saphan, 5 cases in Bang Saphan Noi, and 11 cases in Mueang Prachuap Khiri Khan.
One new death were reported meaning the cumulative total of COVID-19 deaths in the province is 25.
Health officials said the deceased was a 49-year-old fisherman living in Pak Nam Pran who had two pre-existing health conditions and who was unvaccinated.
The new cases bring the total number of cases in the province since April 1 to 6,304.
Meanwhile, 104 people were also discharged from hospital or quarantine having made a full recovery.
Of the 6,304 cumulative total cases in the province, 1,675 are currently receiving treatment in hospital or are staying in quarantine, while a total of 4,604 have made a full recovery and have already been discharged.
Health officials say 107 patients are currently in a serious condition in hospital, while 270 others are in what is described as a moderate condition.
Meanwhile, health officials have announced that 176,034 people in Prachuap Khiri Khan have received a dose of a COVID-19 vaccine. Of those, 117,862 have received one dose and 54,066 have received both doses. 4,106 people have received a third ‘booster’.
