Health officials on Sunday (Aug 22) reported 75 new COVID-19 cases, 26 of which were found in Hua Hin.
Elsewhere in the province, 8 cases were found in Pranburi, 6 cases in Sam Roi Yot, 18 cases in Kuiburi, 4 cases in Thap Sakae, zero cases in Bang Saphan, zero cases in Bang Saphan Noi, and 13 cases in Mueang Prachuap Khiri Khan.
Health officials said that many cases were linked to the following clusters:
- Hua Hin: Karon village in Pala U (+11 cases)
- Kuiburi: Fruit factory (+3 cases)
Three more deaths were also reported, bringing the total number of COVID-19 deaths in the province to 44.
Health officials said one of the deaths was that of a seven month old baby in Pranburi.
The other victims were a 55 year old man in Hua Hin and an 89 year old woman in Prachuap Khiri Khan, both of whom had underlying health conditions, officials said.
The new cases bring the total number of cases in the province since April 1 to 7,067 cases.
Meanwhile, 163 people were also discharged from hospital or quarantine having made a full recovery.
Of the 7,067 cumulative total cases in the province, 1,341 are currently receiving treatment in hospital or are staying in quarantine, while a total of 5,682 have made a full recovery and have already been discharged.
Health officials say 87 patients are currently in a serious condition in hospital, while 232 others are in what is described as a moderate condition.
Meanwhile, health officials said that more than 203,000 people in the province have now received at least one dose of a COVID-19 vaccine.
