Aug 25: Prachuap reports 83 new COVID-19 cases, big increase in vaccinations

Health officials on Wednesday (Aug 25) reported 83 new COVID-19 cases, 17 of which were found in Hua Hin.

Elsewhere in the province, 18 cases were found in Pranburi, zero cases in Sam Roi Yot, zero cases in Kuiburi, 3 cases in Thap Sakae, 13 cases in Bang Saphan, 13 cases in Bang Saphan Noi, and 19 cases in Mueang Prachuap Khiri Khan.

Health officials said that many cases were linked to the following clusters:

  • Hua Hin: Karon village in Pala U (+2 cases)
  • Sam Roi Yot: Fruit factory (+1 case)
  • Pranburi: fishing boat cluster (+3 case)
  • Prachuap Khiri Khan: Prachuap jail cluster (+15 cases)
  • Bang Saphan: Hospital cluster (+4 cases)
  • Bang Saphan Noi: Hospital cluster (+5 cases)

One death was also reported – a 55 year old male from Prachuap Khiri Khan who had an  underlying health condition.

The new cases bring the total number of cases in the province since April 1 to 7,286 cases.

Meanwhile, 53 people were also discharged from hospital or quarantine having made a full recovery.

Of the 7,286 cumulative total cases in the province, 1,237 are currently receiving treatment in hospital or are staying in quarantine, while a total of 6,000 have made a full recovery and have already been discharged.

Health officials say 86 patients are currently in a serious condition in hospital, while 210 others are in what is described as a moderate condition.

There was also another significant rise in the number of vaccines administered in the province in the last 24 hours.

Health officials on Wednesday reported a total of 223,108 vaccine doses have been administered in the province – an increase of almost 10,000 from Tuesday.

Of those, 149,087 people have received one dose, while 69,079 people have received two doses.
