Police Lieutenant Sutath Majeaw, an investigator at Cha-am Police Station, was alerted to the discovery by a Thai tourist. Officers, accompanied by forensic experts, Hua Hin immigration and tourist police, and staff from Cha-am Hospital, arrived at the scene shortly afterwards.

The man was dressed in a blue short-sleeve T-shirt, a black cap, long trousers, and a blindfold. Nearby, officials found a pillow, a blanket, and a religious book, but no identification documents were recovered.

Messages left in the sand included the phrase “Love you forever,” addressed to his wife and children, alongside a heart symbol and the date “08/12/24,” believed to mark the day of his death. Investigators found no signs of foul play. The body was sent to Phra Chom Klao Hospital in Phetchaburi for an autopsy to confirm the cause of death.

Police records revealed the was facing charges in connection with a robbery in Cha-am and an attempted murder involving a gunshot at a cannabis shop in Hua Hin. He had been released on bail but failed to appear in court.

According to his 47-year-old Thai wife, the man had left their home in Cha-am on 4 December and had not returned. She explained that he was under significant stress due to his legal troubles and financial strain.

The man’s wife recounted how her husband had been deceived by a foreign acquaintance who had offered to assist him legally in exchange for 100,000 baht. After receiving the payment, the acquaintance allegedly demanded an additional 350,000 baht, which the family could not afford. The wife said her husband had struggled to cope with the mounting pressures before taking his own life.

Preliminary investigations suggest the man’s suicide was driven by the stress of his legal and financial challenges. Authorities have stated that they will continue to examine the circumstances surrounding his death.
