Thailand’s Centre for Covid-19 Situation Administration (CCSA) is set to rule on the proposed October 1 reopening of Hua Hin at a meeting due to be held later this week.
The Tourism Authority of Thailand will formally submit the proposal to reopen Hua Hin, and four other provinces, to the CCSA for approval at a meeting scheduled for September 23.
The meeting will also decide if sufficient number of vaccines have been administered in Hua Hin and throughout Prachuap Khiri Khan, as well as in neighbouring Cha Am and Phetchaburi.
To date, approximately 40 percent of the total population of Prachuap Khiri Khan has received a dose of a COVID-19 vaccine , while just 26 percent of the entire province is fully vaccinated.
However, health officials have said they expect 80 percent of the total population of Hua Hin to be fully vaccinated by the end of September.
It is a similar story in Phetchaburi, which also hopes the green light will be give for Cha Am to reopen on October 1.
In Phetchaburi, 47% of the total population of the province have received one COVID-19 vaccine dose, while 27% of the province are fully vaccinated.
On Friday, Prachuap Khiri Khan’s leading health official said the province had requested an additional 210,000 vaccine doses to help accelerate the rollout of the vaccine throughout the province.
The proposals, if approved, would see vaccinated foreign tourists be able to stay in Hua Hin without the need to quarantine.
However, they would be required to undergo at least three COVID-19 tests during their stay.
Earlier this month, Isra Stapanaseth, the newly appointed director of the Tourism Authority of Thailand’s Prachuap Khiri Khan confirmed to Hua Hin Today the measures put in place for tourists visiting Hua Hin from October 1.
These measures include:
- Gaining a Certificate of Entry to Thailand (COE)

- Showing a COVID-19 vaccination record card
- Further RT-PCR COVID-19 testing after arrival at Survarnabhumbi
- Further RT-PCR COVID-19 testing after arrival at hotel in Hua Hin.
- Guests will then be required to stay in the hotel for three hours while awaiting the results of the test.
- If the test is confirmed negative they will then be free to leave the hotel but they must stay within the Hua Hin City and Nong Kae districts.
- They will then be required to take further RT-PCR COVID-19 tests on day 7 and day 13 of their stay.
- If the test is negative after day 13, they will be able to travel throughout Thailand.
