Students at many of Hua Hin’s private schools returned to the classroom this week.
On Thursday (Nov 18) the second school semester began for secondary level students at Hua Hin Wittayalai School, the large school located next to Market Village.
As part of the requirements for reopening outlined by the Education Ministry, a host of COVID-19 preventative measures and screening is in place for all teachers, staff and students.
As well as social distancing, temperature checks and mandatory mask wearing, everyone is also required to undergo an ATK test.
The tests are carried by nurses from the Hua Hin Chalermprakiet Red Cross Station. Yesterday, everyone tested returned negative results.
The school has also prepared a response plan in the event that a student or member of staff is found to be at risk.
A student who tests positive will be quarantined at an insolation unit inside the school, which is supervised by teachers and nurses, while teachers who test positive will be sent to hospital.
The school also said that for parents who do not yet want their child to return to the classroom, students can study at home but they will have to arrange for school work to be collected from the teacher for completion.
The school said all parents can have confidence in Hua Hin Wittayalai School that they have done everything to ensure the safety of all students and teachers.
Some of the preventative measures put in place at the school include:
- Daily screening of students in front of the school
- Those with a fever will be sent for an ATK test
- If the test is negative the student can return to class
- If positive, parents will be informed to collect the child for RT-PCR testing at the hospital
One of the students from the school, Ms. Cholatika Pinijram, said that it actually felt a little strange returning to school after such a long absence.
She also said that while wearing a face mask in the classroom was uncomfortable it was still better than having to study online!
Thursday also saw the return of secondary students at other schools in Hua Hin including Hua Hin Wittayalai School, Somthawin School, Yamsaard Hotel Hua Hin and Patravadee Hua Hin School.
There was also some good news for parents of younger children.
Those in the lower secondary level, will return to the classroom on Dec 7, it was announced.
