UPDATE: Hua Hin water supply disruption rescheduled to 11–18 December 2024
Residents in parts of Hua Hin are being urged to prepare for significant disruption to the water supply in early December as essential maintenance work is carried.
The disruption will take place between Dec 2 to 9.
According to announcements from both Pranburi Irrigation and Maintenance Project and Hua Hin Municipality, the disruption will begin on 2 December 2024, with water supply suspended for half a day.
From 3 December, supply will be restricted to a single line, with complete suspension in certain areas lasting until 9 December. Normal service is expected to resume after the work is completed.
The Pranburi Irrigation and Maintenance Project confirmed that water supply to the main canal between Km 0+000 and Km 6+900 will be halted on 2 December from 07:00 to 18:00.
The suspension is necessary to complete improvements to a drainage structure connected to the canal’s watercourse.
This interruption will directly affect two critical pipelines:
- The Pranburi-Thana Ratchat Camp pipeline.
- The Pranburi-Hua Hin pipeline (old line).
The Hua Hin Municipality confirmed that water supply will resume for HDPE and mild steel pipelines at Km 0+240 by 18:00 on 2 December, while AC pipelines at Km 6+900 and the Pranburi-Thanarat Camp pipeline will remain suspended until 18:00 on 9 December.
Precautions and public advisories
Residents, particularly those in Khao Tao village, are advised to store sufficient water to meet their needs during the suspension period. Hua Hin Municipality stated that adequate raw water reserves have been arranged to minimise inconvenience, but some areas will be directly affected.
The Pranburi Irrigation and Maintenance Project stated that water delivery would be restored earlier than planned if the work is completed ahead of schedule.
Authorities are asking the public to share this information widely to ensure that residents are adequately prepared for the disruption.
