The event, held on the 2nd floor of the hotel, is open to the public, with both Thai and international tourists invited to watch the matches free of charge.
The opening ceremony was presided over by Mr. Ongkharak Thongniramol, Deputy Governor of Prachuap Khiri Khan, who emphasised the significance of the tournament for the region. The event was also attended by prominent local figures, including Ms. Warakorn Thavorn, Deputy Director of the Tourism Authority of Thailand (TAT) Prachuap office; Mr. Pramot Thanyakulsatja, President of the Lions Club; Mr. Kitipong Siriphetkasem, Vice President of the Tourism Association; Dr. Rungrong Seeluangsa-ard, Hotel Manager; and Mr. Amorn Phatthong, Vice President of the Municipal Council.
The competition began with a match between well-known players Dechawat Poomjaeng, also known as “Jack Saraburi,” and Anektana Saengnin, referred to as “Saxophone.” As a gesture of encouragement, the Deputy Governor presented floral garlands to the players during the opening ceremony.
The snooker tournament will continue until August 31, with the final match scheduled on that date. Ms. Warakorn noted that the event provides an excellent opportunity for visitors to Hua Hin to enjoy indoor sports such as snooker, which is both globally recognised and popular in Thailand.
She highlighted Hua Hin’s designation as a sports tourism city by the Tourism Authority of Thailand, which aims to combine sports with the region’s natural attractions.
Snooker enthusiasts are encouraged to take advantage of this free public event, offering a unique opportunity to witness high-level competition in Hua Hin.
