Officials and hotel business operators gathered on Thursday at the Singkhon Conference Room in Prachuap Khiri Khan Provincial Hall to discuss regulatory guidelines for the hospitality sector. The meeting, chaired by Governor Sittichai Sawatsan, was attended by Provincial Secretary Suthee Lausubinpraesert and hotel owners from across the province.
The discussion focused on compliance with the Hotel Act B.E. 2547 (2004), outlining key responsibilities for hotel operators and managers. Governor Sittichai emphasised the importance of adhering to legal requirements and highlighted specific regulations, including:
- Approval Requirements – Hotels must seek official approval before changing their type, renaming their establishment, or altering the number of rooms in a way that affects the structure.
- Hotel Manager Responsibilities – Managers are required to submit copies of the daily guest register to the registrar on a weekly basis. They are also responsible for maintaining order within the premises and may refuse accommodation to individuals if there is reasonable suspicion.
- Registrar’s Authority – The registrar has the power to suspend or revoke hotel licences if operators fail to comply with legal requirements or directives issued by regulatory authorities.
In addition to regulatory matters, the governor introduced the “Next Move Prachuap” Strategic Campaign, an initiative aimed at boosting tourism and promoting local businesses. The campaign encourages collaboration between the public and private sectors to enhance tourism development, attract more visitors to the province, and support sustainable economic growth. A key objective is to position Prachuap Khiri Khan’s tourism sector to meet international standards.
Hotel operators were encouraged to align with the initiative, which aims to strengthen the province’s reputation as a destination for both domestic and international travellers.
