Pregnant woman arrested in Hua Hin with 48,480 methamphetamine pills


Police on Tuesday arrested a pregnant woman at Hua Hin Railway Station after allegedly being found in possession of bag containing 48,480 methamphetamine pills.

Police said the pills had an estimated street value of 5 million baht.

The 26 year old woman from Udon Thani told police she was five months pregnant.

She said she had been paid to transport the drugs to an address in Surat Thani.

The woman said she needed the money to pay for antenatal care and cover the costs of the birth of her child.

The woman said her boyfriend is currently serving time in jail on drug offences.

The woman was taken to Hua Hin police station and formally charged with charged with illegal possession of a category 1 drug.

Meanwhile on Sunday, Hua Hin police also announced the arrest of a 45 year old local man who was found in possession of 5 methamphetamine tablets.

The man, who lives in Thap Thai, was stopped by officers after being found outside at 12.20am – in breach of curfew.

Police said the man had stashed the pills in his shoe.

He was arrested and charged with illegal possession of a category 1 drug, driving a car in possession of a category 1 drug and violating Section 9 of the Royal Decree regarding curfew.
