‘Run Khan Do II’ brings wellness focus to Hua Hin with third stage of provincial race series

Organisers said over 1,000 participants gathered at Rajabhakti Park on 28 May for the third stage of the ‘Run Khan Do II’ wellness running series, an event aimed at promoting healthy lifestyles and boosting local tourism in Prachuap Khiri Khan.

The race, held under the theme “Wing Kan Du Season 2”, was officially opened by Deputy Governor Kittipong Sukhpakul, who flagged off the 5-kilometre walk-run inside the park. The event forms part of a nine-week programme taking place across all eight districts of the province.

Local officials, tourism representatives and community leaders were in attendance, including Deputy Governors Sinat Oaiam and Preeda Sukjai; Hua Hin Chief District Officer Prasoot Hombunthoeng; Hua Hin City Municipality Clerk Jirawat Phramanee, acting as Mayor; Jirawan Boonrit, Deputy Director of the Tourism Authority of Thailand’s Prachuap office; and Kitipong Siriphetkasem, President of the Hua Hin-Cha-am Tourism Business Association.

The initiative is part of the province’s “Next Move Prachuap – Moving Forward” policy, which encourages physical activity as a means of preventing disease and promoting wellness tourism. In addition to the run, the evening featured food and beverage stalls showcasing local vendors.

Awards were presented to the top three male and female finishers in both the general and youth categories, with an additional prize for the best fancy dress costume. Following the awards, Chief District Officer Prasoot Hombunthoeng passed the event flag to his counterpart in Mueang Prachuap District, Supachai Krutdam, where the next race will take place on 4 June.

The remaining schedule for the ‘Run Khan Do II’ series is as follows:

  • Track 4: Mueang Prachuap – 4 June

  • Track 5: Sam Roi Yot – 11 June

  • Track 6: Bang Saphan – 18 June

  • Track 7: Kui Buri – 25 June

  • Track 8: Bang Saphan Noi – 2 July

  • Provincial final: Mueang Prachuap – 9 July

Earlier races were held in Pranburi and Thap Sakae on 14 and 21 May, respectively.
