The chief of the Prachuap Khiri Khan provincial police Pol Maj-Gen Wanchai Tharanatham issued an order for the immediate transfer to HQ of the Sam Roi Yot chief of police Pol Col Phakphoom Hoyai.

Provincial commander Pol Col Kittipong Liangcheephrong will take over in his place until further notice.

An investigation is underway into how a double decker bus carrying 42 Myanmar migrant workers was allowed to pass through a checkpoint in the red zone province.

Earlier reports suggested that several of the migrants on the Nakhon Chai Tour tested positive for Covid-19 and others had to enter quarantine.

They had been heading for the Singkhorn border crossing on August 6th.

Daily News reported that the migrants had been in touch with a Tak woman who was in Bangkok and that the staff of the bus company were not aware that they were breaking the law after enquiring at the checkpoint that had no officers in the road.

The bus was later stopped by administration officials nearer the border.
