VIJITR 5 Regions: All you need to know about the stunning light show in Hua Hin

The VIJITR 5 Regions festival, a stunning display of lights, colours, and sound, is set to dazzle Hua Hin from August 17 to 25, 2024.

The event, themed “Hua Hin Timeless Light Charm,” promises to offer a unique experience, showcasing the town’s historical landmarks and rich culture through modern artistic techniques.

Organised by the Ministry of Tourism and Sports, in collaboration with the Tourism Authority of Thailand (TAT), this contemporary festival aims to highlight the distinct characteristics of each region through activities such as 3D mapping, light installations, city tours, and storytelling.

During the nine-day festival, visitors will be treated to a series of light displays, projection mapping, and cultural performances that reflect the local way of life, wisdom, and traditions.

The festival’s organisers have confirmed several locations in Hua Hin where these light installations will be featured, including:

Each location will host a different display, offering a diverse range of experiences. Some highlights include:

  1. Charming Hua Hin Station: Visitors can step back in time at this iconic station, known for its Victorian charm and intricate carvings.
  2. Locomotive Lighting Runway Show: The century-old locomotive, a significant relic from World War II, will be transformed into a dazzling light spectacle at the Hua Hin Railway Station.
  3. Treasure of Nature: This installation will illuminate a natural sanctuary, where towering trees symbolise the enduring spirit of Hua Hin.
  4. Timeless Tower: A nostalgic portal that invites travellers on a journey through time, capturing the essence of Southern Thailand.
  5. Illuminate King Mongkut’s Pavilion: The Phra Mongkut Klao Pavilion will be bathed in light, reflecting the grace and loyalty of His Majesty.
  6. Heartfelt Park Lighting: A serene space in Phon Kingphet Public Park will honour the legacy of a local boxing legend with soft, emotive lighting.
  7. Lighting the Lanes of Agricultural History: Vibrant lights will evoke the joy of the harvest season, celebrating the region’s agricultural heritage.
  8. Celestial Hall, Draped in Light: At King Rama IV’s Astronomy Hall, visitors will explore cosmic wonders, as light installations create a connection to the stars.
  9. Luminescent Echoes of Time: Jazz and light will merge in a display that reflects the harmonious spirit of Prachuap Khiri Khan.
  10. The Underwater Station: The New Hua Hin Railway Station will be transformed with an underwater theme, highlighting the province’s beautiful beaches.
  11. Sparks of Fading Light: A tribute to Hua Hin’s first boxing champion, with rapid flashes of light mimicking the speed of a boxer in the ring.
  12. Radiant Plaza of Joy: Phon Kingphet Park will be the heart of the festival, with a resplendent display that embodies the city’s vibrant spirit.
  13. Whirlwind of Colours: A captivating 3D light display will showcase the curve of Hua Hin city at Phon Kingphet Park.
  14. Timeless Stone Sculpture: A light installation at the Plaza will bridge the past and present, celebrating Hua Hin’s history.
  15. The Locomotive Legend: The iconic locomotive, a significant piece of history from World War II, will be reborn as the “Treasure of the Light Locomotive.”

The VIJITR 5 Regions festival offers free admission to all events, with installations and performances running daily from 6 p.m. to midnight.

This festival is an opportunity to see Hua Hin in a new light—literally—and to celebrate the town’s unique cultural heritage in an innovative and engaging way.
