The wet weather seen in Hua Hin in recent days is set to continue well into the weekend, according to the Thai Meteorological Department.
Residents and visitors in Hua Hin and Prachuap Khiri Khan are bracing for a continuation of wet weather conditions, as the northeastern monsoon strengthens its grip over the Gulf of Thailand, Southern Thailand, and the Andaman Sea, forecasters said on Wednesday (Nov 15).
This weather system is expected to persist until Sunday, bringing heavy to very heavy rainfall in several southern regions.
Meteorological reports indicate that the Gulf of Thailand is experiencing particularly strong winds and high waves, reaching heights of 2-3 meters.
These conditions are expected to worsen during thunderstorms, with wave heights potentially exceeding 3 meters. Meanwhile, along the Andaman coast, wave heights are currently around 1 meter but are forecasted to increase to 1-2 meters further offshore.
Prachuap Khiri Khan Province is on alert, with the local authorities warning of potential flash floods, forest runoff, stagnant flooding, and strong winds. These conditions are anticipated to be most severe between November 16th and 19th, 2023.
Residents in low-lying and flood-prone areas are particularly urged to exercise caution and remain vigilant.
