Aug 9: Prachuap reports highest number of COVID-19 fatalities in a single day

Health officials on Monday (Aug 9) reported 132 new COVID-19 cases and 5 fatalities, the most reported in a single day in the province since the start of the pandemic.

Elsewhere in the province, 44 cases were reported in Hua Hin, 17 in Pranburi, 26 in Sam Roi Yot, 10 in Kuiburi, 0 in Thap Sakae, 5 in Bang Saphan, 3 in Bang Saphan Noi and 27 in Mueang Prachuap Khiri Khan.

Five new deaths were reported meaning the cumulative total of COVID-19 deaths in the province is 24.

Among the deceased were 3 females and 2 males, aged between 59 and 80, all of whom had an underlying health condition. The deceased were located in Pranburi, Mueang Prachup and Hua Hin.

The new cases bring the total number of cases in the province since April 1 to 5,795.

Meanwhile, 54 people were also discharged from hospital or quarantine having made a full recovery.

Of the 5,795 cumulative total cases in the province, 1,433 are currently receiving treatment in hospital or are staying in quarantine, while a total of 4,338 have made a full recovery and have already been discharged.

Health officials say 78 patients are currently in a serious condition in hospital, while 230 others are in what is described as a moderate condition.

Meanwhile, health officials have announced that 150,486 people in Prachuap Khiri Khan have received a dose of a COVID-19 vaccine. Of those, 109,251 have received one dose and 39,472 have received both doses. 1,763 people have received a third ‘booster’.
