Cha Am Municipality Hosts Grand Concert on the Beach

The Cha Am Municipality, in cooperation with A.P. Honda Co. Ltd. and G.M.M. TV Co. Ltd., hosted the Honda Click I Raggae on the Rock Music Festival on Cha Am Beach on 8 August 2009. One of the biggest music festivals in Thailand, the event, starting from 12 p.m. to 6 a.m., boasts many premier reggae, ska and rock bands known widely among Thai music devotees, such as Modern Dog, Big Ass, T-Bone, Clear and Playground.

According to Mr. Nukul Pornsomboonsiri, Cha Am Mayor, like Hua Hin, Cha Am is a famous beachfront town for Thai and foreign vacationers. The Music Festival, besides attracting more than 100,000 visitors and music lovers nationwide, promotes tourism of Cha Am during the low season (between July and October).

The Cha Am Municipal Office is responsible for taking care of and facilitating Thai and foreign tourists. It also deals with initiating activities to boost local tourism and economics. The Music Festival on the beach conforms to the campaign launched by the Tourism Authority of Thailand (TAT) this year to promote traveling in Thailand and boost Thai economics because the more visitors join in the event, the better the economic situation in Cha Am will become. “This event is successful as it attracts over 100,000 people to come here,” said Mr. Nukul. “It is expected that Cha Am has earned over 50 million Baht from this concert alone.”

Thanks to its spacious areas and excellent facilities for any grand events, the Cha Am Municipality will constantly organize other events for all year round to define the image of Cha Am beach – the place filled with happiness, fun and, of course, wealth, concluded the Cha Am Mayor.
