The festival is being organised by the Dhamma with Heart Club, in partnership with the Thai-Nepali Association, the Tourism Authority of Thailand (Prachuap Office), Hua Hin Municipality, the Hua Hin Cultural Council, the Hua Hin/Cha-am Tourism Business Association, and the Hua Hin Women’s Club.
Deepavali, also known as Diwali, is a Hindu Festival of Lights celebrated worldwide as a symbol of light triumphing over darkness. Traditionally held to honour Lakshmi, the Goddess of Wealth, the festival marks a time for new beginnings and is deeply rooted in the faiths of Hindu and Buddhist communities. It is observed globally with large-scale celebrations, including in Bangkok, and now for the first time in Hua Hin.
The event aims to strengthen cultural ties between Thai, Nepali, and Indian communities and to attract visitors to Hua Hin through cultural tourism initiatives. According to organisers, the festival is a collaborative effort between public and private sectors to stimulate the local economy and celebrate multicultural heritage.
Among the highlights of the festival is a fire worship ceremony led by Hindu priests from Nepal. The Aarti ritual will honour Goddess Lakshmi and showcase Hindu traditions to both locals and tourists. Other activities include the Miss Lakshmi Pageant, with prizes worth 2 million baht, performances by local students, and a special cultural showcase by award-winning artists from Nepal.
Organisers have extended an open invitation to the public to join the festivities, which are free of charge.
