With the proposed reopening of Hua Hin to vaccinated foreign tourists just over one week away, officials are trying to vaccinate as many local people as possible before Oct 1.

This week saw the Hua Hin Municipality begin its final rollout of the Sinopharm vaccination, which will see some 4,000 people receive a dose of the jab.

Officials said the vaccines will help to create herd immunity and prevent the spread of the virus.

However, they stressed that while the vaccination is not 100% effective against the virus, it can help reduce the severity of the disease.

The first day of the vaccine rollout was overseen by Ms. Busaba Choksuchat and Mr. Montree Chupu, deputy mayors of Hua Hin, who also received doses of the vaccine.

Officials also stressed the importance of self hygiene and asked people to continue following the national guidelines to help prevent the spread of the disease.

Even if people have been vaccinated they should continue to regularly clean their hands, wear a face mask and practice social distancing.
