Mr. Nopporn Wutthikul is set to become the first mayor of Hua Hin City Municipality after securing victory in Sunday’s local election.

Running as candidate No. 1 for the Hua Hin Phalang Mai group, Mr. Nopporn, widely known by his nickname “Nui”, received 11,402 votes, according to unofficial results released on Monday morning. His nearest rival, Mr. Phitsanu Klakhai from the Mahanakhon Hua Hin group, received 6,814 votes, while Mr. Q Arunoros from the Fight for Hua Hin group received 2,536 votes.

Voter turnout stood at around 49%, with 21,948 of the 44,823 eligible voters casting ballots in the first mayoral election since Hua Hin was officially upgraded from a town municipality to a city municipality on 31 March this year.

Mr. Nopporn had previously served as mayor of Hua Hin Town Municipality and is a well-known political figure in the area. Following the vote, he thanked residents for their continued support.

“I’m deeply thankful to the people of Hua Hin for placing their trust in the Hua Hin Phalang Mai team,” he said after the unofficial results were announced on Sunday night.

“This marks my first term as mayor of Hua Hin City Municipality, and we have also secured every seat in the municipal council across all districts. This strong support gives us the encouragement to move forward together. Hua Hin must continue to move forward—and we’ll do it together.”

While the result is yet to be formally certified, Mr. Nopporn’s group appears to have achieved a clean sweep, winning both the mayoral vote and all municipal council seats.

The official announcement of the election result is expected in the coming days.
