A Norwegian tourist was safely rescued on Wednesday morning (Nov 20) after becoming unable to descend from Khao Takiab in Hua Hin.
Emergency Medical Services at Hua Hin Hospital were alerted to the incident, which occurred around 11 a.m. The tourist, identified as 31-year-old Foss Vebjorn, had climbed to the summit of Khao Takiab but was overwhelmed by fear while attempting to descend.
Police Lieutenant Setthathorn Khanama, Deputy Inspector of the Tourist Police Division 2, Sub-Division 1, along with Police Sergeant Major Chinkorn Kraiwilat and Police Sergeant Major Jariyaporn Hatkla, coordinated with Hua Hin Police Station and rescue personnel from the Sawang Hua Hin Thammasathan Foundation to respond to the scene.
According to authorities, Mr. Vebjorn, who holds a “TR” visa, had travelled alone and used a route near Wat Khao Takiab to ascend the mountain. While the climb to the top was successful, he became fearful of falling and the potential danger during his descent, prompting him to request assistance.
The rescue team retraced Mr. Vebjorn’s route and guided him safely back down. He expressed gratitude to the tourist police and rescue personnel for their swift response and assistance.
