Hua Hin Municipality is exploring plans to construct a 7-storey municipal office building as part of its preparations for the town’s upcoming transition to city status.
A meeting chaired by Mayor Nopporn Wutthikul on 17 December 2024 brought together key officials, including mayoral advisor Mr. Siraphan Kamonpramot, municipal clerk Mr. Jeerawat Phramanee, deputy municipal clerk Lieutenant Likit Noonin, and heads of various municipal departments.
The meeting focused on the design and functionality of the proposed building, which aims to accommodate the growing needs of municipal operations. The proposed layout includes three floors dedicated to municipal department offices, three floors for parking, and a floor for meeting rooms. Plans also feature a wellness centre to provide holistic health services for the community.
Mayor Nopporn also announced updates on the planned renovations to Building 1, Hua Hin Municipality’s current main office. These updates aim to expand service areas for the public and modernise facilities, ensuring they meet the municipality’s growing demands.
The construction project aligns with the recent decision by the Ministry of Interior to upgrade Hua Hin’s status from a town municipality to a city municipality. The Royal Gazette confirmed this change in October, citing Hua Hin’s population of over 50,000 residents and its financial stability as meeting the criteria outlined in the Municipal Act of 1953. The transition is scheduled to take effect on 28 March 2025.
With this elevation, the city’s jurisdiction will expand according to boundaries set by the Ministry of Interior. All assets, liabilities, and municipal regulations will be transferred to the new Hua Hin City Municipality upon implementation.
While no specific timeline or budget details were disclosed for the proposed building, further updates are expected as planning progresses.
