About 60 members and guests of the Rotary Club o f Royal Hua Hin supported their 9 Year Celebration Fellowship Night at the Movenpick Asara Resort & Spa on Tuesday 2nd April 2019. The Fellowship event celebrated RCRHH’s 9th year, the first unofficial meeting being held on 11th September 2009 and the Charter received on 12th April 2010. Also present were Rotarians from RC Hua Hin and Patong Beach in Thailand, RC Kalamalka in Canada and RC Zurich West in Switzerland. Since those early years the club has moved from strength to strength and now has a total of 52 members and 17 nationalities, possibly one of the few clubs in the world to claim this achievement?
P Brian paid tribute to club’s development and invited those Charter Members present to join him, CP Alan Cooper, PP Paul Grab, PP Richard Jones, Rtns Michel Zuber, Fabrice Zuber, Arnold Ruijs and Chris Byrd. P Brian said ‘’It’s great to have so many Rotarians and friends gather to celebrate our 9th year of providing community service work for the underprivileged and disadvantaged and we welcome everyone to participate in our events and activities’’.
Guests enjoyed free flow wine and beer and a sumptuous buffet consisting of Swiss style favorites, a great night as the club heads into its 10th year celebrations. This was followed by keynote speeches from the Rotary International representative Frank Yih on behalf of RI President Barry Rassin, on Future Trends, District Designated Funds and report of the Youth Exchange which saw the students resplendent in their badged jackets on stage. Following an excellent international buffet lunch, the afternoon session was taken up with further speeches, finance, achievements, management and the introduction of the District Governor Nominee Designated.
The evening party was another opportunity for celebration in the hotel ballroom with more presentations, dancing, and an impromptu version of Frank Sinatra’s My Way sung by 94 year old Past RI President Khun Bichai Rattakul. It was another interesting and enlightening Rotary weekend and good to see so many representatives from RC Royal Hua Hin present. P Brian Anderson said, ‘The annual District Conference is another great event that brings together all the Rotary Clubs in D3330 and provides a platform for fellowship and updates on the RI mission and humanitarian programs as well as initiatives of our District. There’s always a lot of camaraderie among Rotarians as we meet old friends as well as new friends.”
