Thailand will waive quarantine for visitors from 46 countries from 1 November, the Prime Minister Prayuth Chan-ocha announced on Thursday (Oct 21).

The 46 countries include Britain, the United States, China, Singapore, Germany and Australia, according to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.

Prayuth said the visitors could skip mandatory quarantine as long as they arrive by air, have been fully vaccinated and have a document to show they are virus-free.

Arrival by air is only permitted at Survanabhumbi, Don Mueang, Chiang Mai, Phuket, Koh Samui, U-Tapao and Buriram airports.

The reopening will include Hua Hin, Bangkok, Pattaya, Chiang Mai, Phuket, Krabi and Surat Thani, among others. (Full list below).

But what is back on the agenda and of significance for people wishing to visit Hua Hin is that movement of people arriving in the town looks set to be restricted to Hua Hin and Nong Khae districts.

While tourism officials in Hua Hin had requested the requirement of only allowing foreign tourists to visit the two districts be scrapped, Thailand’s Centre for COVID-19 Situation Administration are likely to insist on the requirement.

A formal announcement on the exact requirements of Hua Hin’s reopening is due imminently (Hua Hin Today will post an update once we receive confirmation).
