The 8th Bangkok Motorbike Festival 2016, on 27th January to 31st January, displayed the latest technologies incorporated in the manufacturer’s newest creations. The makers combined various elements like robotics and technology to engineer futuristic mechanics which can not only made the riding comfortable but also safer. Here are some brands which showed some cutting edge technologies at the BMF 2016 pavilion this year.
Yamaha – Bike Autonomous Technology
Yamaha is speculated to showcase its latest creation – ‘Yamaha Motobot’ at the upcoming bike event which was earlier staged at the Tokyo Motor Show 2015. This technology is all about a humanoid which can control an unmodified bike and control clutch and transmission, throttle, steering, brake lever and pedal. According to a Yamaha official, Yamaha Motobot can ride a bike comfortably at a speed of 200 kmph while controlling all the functions with high accuracy. Though, it is still in development stage but, the company is very positive about this bike autonomous technology.
BMW – Laser light & Head-Up Display Helmet
To ensure more safety, BMW Motorrad is coming up with 2 innovative technologies in this bike festival. The brand is expected to display its BMW K 1600 GTL concept bike integrated with BMW laser light. The new headlamps would be able to throw brighter and whiter light with a highbeam range up to 600 metres. Right now, the tests are conducted on the BMW K 1600 GTL concept bike only and after successful testing, the technology may be used on large scale. Another technology which is expected to stage by BMW Motorrad at BMF 2016 is BMW head-up display helmet for the optimum safety of the rider. This display option of this helmet comprise of safetyrelevant information, impending dangers warnings, road sign recognitions, speed limit, tyre pressure and fuel level.
Honda – Motorcycle Airbag System
Based on surveys and studies, Honda found that airbags can reduce the intensity of an impact after a collision. Airbag technology is very common in Honda cars and to ensure the same safety in its motorcycles, Honda has introduced Motorcycle Airbag System.
