There’s a new Food and Beverage Manager at the Novotel Hua Hin/ Cha-Am Beach Resort and Spa. Swedish national Mikael Skager is the new appointment to this position. He has an eye for detail, but first and foremost it’s all about the renowned Scandinavian approach to service.
Mikael’s journey to the Novotel followed on from a hospitality position (and some golf) at the Black Mountain Golf Club, where he maintains a convivial relationship with the management and with his family home on course. However his two young daughters would much rather spend time with Dad at his new workplace rather than on the golf course.
That’s because the Novotel has a very family friendly approach with a range of activities designed to keep kids happy; not really the focus of any golf course. An emerging trend for local resorts is to promote their hospitality services to non-guests.This was one of our discussion points with Mikael as his portfolio includes events, entertainment and other hospitality offerings to locals.
During the tenure of Novotel General Manager Alex Eaton, the high level roof-top Gravity Sky Bar has opened as well as changes to other hotel venues to ensure that the Novotel is as user-friendly as possible to visitors as well as to guests. As F & B Manager, Mikael has a lead role in these improvements. He has plans for more convivial occasions with DJ’s and live music entertaining guests alongside afternoon children’s activities. The 24th floor Gravity Sky Bar, already provided expansive views of the coastline, but now there’s an extended and more sophisticated snacking menu.
The Champions Sports Bar & Grill is the perfect venue to see all the action of the continuing FIFA World Cup with Mikael following Sweden and GM Alex an Australian supporter. Even if your country didn’t make the last 16, you are very welcome to be a part of this and many other amazing events to come at the Novotel. www.novotelhuahin.com
