

The 1st Snooker Hua Hin Open is still continuing until 2 October 2011 at Tarn Diew Snooker Club. Starting on 30 September, this event was organized by the Hua Hin Municipality and Boonrawd Brewery Public Company Limited. With the main aim to encourage young people to play snooker instead of using illicit drugs and serve as a sport forum for snooker players to hone their skill, the 1st Snooker Hua Hin Open offers both cash and trophy for the winner. 10,000 Baht cash, 5,000 Baht cash and 3,000 Baht cash together with a trophy will be awarded to the 1st, 2nd and 3rd winners respectively from the Deputy Mayor of Hua Hin Mr. Athikhun Butying. In addition, a special prize of 5,000 Baht cash will be given to the one who scores the highest.
One of the most popular sports of Thailand and the world alike, snooker is played around the world and included in both national and international sport events. In Thailand, there are several famous snooker players, such as Rutchaphol Phu-ob-om, aka Tong Sitchoi (or James Wattana as known internationally), Dechawat Phumchaeng, Thepchaiya Oon-nu among others.
