Bestowing the Royal Garuda emblem to a company is considered one of the highest honours in Thailand.
The Central Plaza Hotel Company was the first hotel company in Thailand to receive the Royal Warrant of Appointment from His Majesty King Bhumibol Adulyadej in late 2013. As a flagship property, the Centara Grand Beach Resort & Villas Hua Hin, now proudly displays the symbol of this appointment from the rooftop. On 30th December, the ceremonial installation was attended by members of the company-owning Chirathivat family, with representatives of government at all levels, Company management and employees.
The ceremony included paying homage to Thai Royalty, past and present, anointing the Garuda image and seeking blessings according to Buddhist ceremonial traditions. The event added yet another chapter to the proud history of the Centara which goes back to its origins in 1927. Footnote: No chances being taken with either the safety of attendees or success of the installation. We noticed a weight limit of 3,000 kilograms on the sling being used by the giant mobile crane for the lift!
