Cha Am Today recently was able to speak with the 5 term election winner, Cha-Am Mayor, Mr. Nukul Pornsomboon-Siri. He revealed to us his new plans for development in the City for 2013.
“The Cha-Am Municipality covers an area of 110 square kilometers with a population 50,000 people. Each year there are more than 5 million visiting tourists. It is the Municipality that provides services for residents and tourists by focusing on the City infrastructure, education, health programs, social security and cultural preservation.”
To improve the infrastructure of Cha-Am in 2013 it is planned to construct a new City water manufacturing plant located in the Ruam Jai Pattana community. This water manufacturing plant is to solve the water shortages in Cha-Am’s south zone. It is also planned to provide underground electrical wiring for the entire beach road area. This will improve views of the ocean and beach in this important precinct.
As an additional recreation facility a park with a waterfall will be built in Tung Takad Plee. This park which will cover 226 Rai in area. To improve public safety CCTVs are to be installed in many places around the City.
These City plans will need a large amount of funding but the Mayor commented that this can be managed “in order to build a dream City with a high standard quality of life and to bring happiness to everyone in the community”. The Mayor said “I love to see everyone here living happily and harmoniously with the Municipality providing security and convenience.” Mr. Nukul Pornsomboon-Siri also told us more about the upcoming annual major Event of the Song Kran Festival also known as the Thai New Year.
“The Cha-Am Municipality is preparing for the Thai New Year or Song Kran Festival on 13th April 2013. The Event will commence with a morning ceremony at 7.30 AM with food offerings and a bathing ceremony for the Buddha statue. From 11 AM onward there will be a Song Kran Parade starting from the Long Beach Hotel along the Cha-Am beach road then along Ruamchit Road, ending at the Cha-Am Municipality. During the evening there will be a musical performance by well known artists near the Cha-Am Municipality building” said the Cha-Am Mayor.
He says “Cha-Am City is pleased to boost and promote local tourism with these plans for future development. I would like to ask everyone to help look after our environment, help keep our energy sources secure and importantly reduce littering. My message for tourists is, if you need any help while you are staying in Cha-Am, please contact the Municipality.”Cha-Am Municipality 31 Naratip Raod T. Cha-Amm A.
