

The Cha-Am Municipality will organize an event to commemorate Krom Phra Narathip Praphanphong on October 11-15, 2011
According to Mr. Nukul Pronsomboonsiri, the Cha-Am Mayor, the Municipality will join hands with the Cha-Am Municipal Council also concerned agencies to hold this event which may later become an annual occasion of the city. With an aim to honor Krom Phra Narathip Praphanphong, who pioneered city planning and modernizing in Cha-Am until it becomes a famous holiday getaway of Thailand, the event will start on October 11 – the date when Krom Phra Narathip Praphanphong passed away.
The commemorative event starts in the morning session which in a Brahman ceremony takes place in front of the monument of Krom Phra Narathip Praphanphong at 9 am. Also another Buddhist one at 10 am. As well as sessions may have many stage performances light and sound shows every evening.
The three-day morning session, taking place at the monument on the Narathip road, will allow people and visitors to worship and ask for blessings. The evening session highlights retro Thai folk dance by Od Four S. Should the event be successful, the organizer will think about holding it for one more day in the following year, Mr. Nukul said.
The great patron of Cha-Am whose contribution on urban modernization and city planning is invaluable to local people nowadays, Krom Phra Narathip Praphanphong is now a symbol of the city. The commemoration will take place for the first time this year and will continue every year as an annual event. Proceedings will serve as funding for renovation of his monument. Local people and visitors are welcome to attend the commemoration day of Krom Phra Narathip Praphanphong between the above-mentioned dates.
