Cha Am Today: One of the many developments of Cha Am that many people are excited about is the project on ‘underground cable system’. Could you please tell us more details on this?
The Mayor: The project is the co-investment of Cha Am Municipality and the Provincial Electricity Authority (PEA). We have decided to co-operate in the project of putting the cable underground; in the area of Ruamjit Rd. along the Cha Am beach for the distance of 5 kms. The total budget for this project is around 145 million baht, which is 84 million baht from the PEA and about 61 million baht from Cha Am Municipality. Basically, the budget from PEA will be spent on the overall electricity system from the installation of the cables, meters, transformers, etc. The budget from the municipality will be for all the works regarding the public utilities, the road and the landscape adjustments, etc. This should be officially started by the end of this year, maybe around November or December. The project will take about one year to be finished.
