FLOOD CHARITY FUNDRAISING CONCERT BY SKAL CLUB
AT HYATT REGENCY HUA HIN

SKAL Club of Hua Hin and Cha Am, in cooperation with Rotary Club of Royal Hua Hin and The Hyatt Regency Resort & Spa, presented a flood charity fundraising concert “Reach out, Rebuild and Restore” featuring Nan Sathida Prompiriya, a lovely Thai singer, the winner of five “Gold Medals” for Thailand at the World Championships of Performing Arts 2011 in Los Angeles California USA with a beautiful medley of popular songs and Paul Bankes, a Canadian musician, classical guitarist, owner of Suey Vista on Soi 94 where live music is played, performing Spanish and South American classics. Paul also accompanied Khun Nan with “Bridge over troubled water” with Bruce, “The Fiddler on The Roof” on violin. The “Irish” boys with Barry concluded the performances with a beautiful Irish song and a less compromising Irish drinking song.

The concert took place on Saturday, December 3, 2011 from 6:30 pm onwards at the Grand Ballroom, Hyatt Regency Hua Hin. The proceeds from this fundraising concert went directly towards the rehabilitation of Wat Kong-Sa Primary School in Ayutthaya which was severely affected by flooding.
The Hyatt Regency Team led by Sammy Carolus, the General Manager, Ben Perera and Chef Mitele, The PR. Department , Human Resources and Engineering team set up a fantastic programme including a delicious Cocktail Buffet and an endless flow of wines, juices and beer and a Dessert Buffet at the Intermezzo.

Through the programme and auction, the Editor of Hua Hin Today, generally known as “Khun Jerry” professionally guided the guests and performers as Master of Ceremonies.
Numerous lucky draw tickets and bids for objects including a Louis Vuitton lady´s bag were auctioned off. A life auction saw Paul Banks and Pirates sold to a party on board of the Sun Cat , a solar powered boat for a coastal trip of 5 hours with 15 guests. Two Golf Pictures with signatures of Golf Greats were donated by the Banyan Golf Club and auctioned off for considerable amounts. All in all, Approx. Baht 400,000 was collected that evening. A cheque for that amount was presented to a delegation of the Wat Kong Sa school consisting of teachers and students. A Sunday morning call to the MC announced an additional Baht 150,000 collected by Lars Castelund of Black Lotus and friends. The incredible amount of Baht 550,000 was now reality.
