The RICD Wheelchair Project based at the Rajanagarindra Institute for Child Development (RICD) in Chiang Mai supports poor people with disability all over Thailand, by giving them mobility aid in order to improve the quality of their lives. The RICD Wheelchair Project is a Royal Project under the Royal Patronage of H.R.H. Princess Maha Chakri Sirindhorn, which means that all appliances must be given free of charge to the beneficiaries. Currently many poor people with disability can-not afford to buy the necessary appliances. All recipients are fitted in their wheelchair according to their special medical needs and this with assistance of professional wheelchair technicians and medical staff.
The Dutch Society NVTHC in Hua Hin donated recently 20.000 Baht to the RICD Wheelchair Project, which project has a close cooperation with Hua Hin Hospital. In return for this much appreciated donation, the secretary of the NVTHC was present at home visits as well as during the delivery of mobility aid to 6 people with disability in Hua Hin district. During the home visits, it became clear that apart from wheelchairs, also bath chairs, toilet chairs, a tricycle as well as matrasses were needed.
Together with the local representative of the RICD Wheelchair Project and the valuable assistance of Hua Hin Hospital (in particular Khun Nam end Khun Joy) were all appliances delivered to the people with disability. With special thanks to Dr. Samai Sirithongthaworn, Director of the Rajanagarindra Institute of Child Development and the director of Hua Hin Hospital who made this distribution possible by providing free transport as well as medical staff from Hua Hin Hospital.
