Vendors at two Hua Hin markets popular with both Thai and foreign tourists dump their counterfeit goods and quickly ran as a team of police, military and officials started their raid, the Thai-language daily Matichon reported.

The team led by Mr Niran Panpaeng, from the Office of Suppression of Intellectual Property Violations, together with Maj Somphot Krachaengchim, from the Peace and Order Maintaining Command, and Pol Capt Boonyasit Suthithatnapong, from the Economic Crimes Suppression Division, raided 2 popular markets, Toh Rung Hua Hin and Toh Rung next to the Hua Hin temple, at 10.30 pm.

Just as they arrived, the vendors quickly ran away leaving a lot of fake merchandise behind. They were chased and three of them were caught. The raiding team seized almost 2,000 items of counterfeit goods such as handbags, shirts, watches, undergarments, hats, shoes and fashion items worth around 1 million THB. The 3 suspects and the seized goods were handed over to Hua Hin police station.
