The Mayor of Hua Hin, along with the Boh Fai Bicycle Club and a former Hua Hin paratrooper have established the Hua Hin Bicycle Club to promote good health and exercise. The Mayor of Hua Hin Mr. Nopporn Wutthikul told Hua Hin Today that the new bicycle club he has founded with a member of the Boh Fai Bicycle Club Mr. Siwanat Watthanakhum and the former paratrooper, Pol. Lt. Col. Pramote Maneechai, now has 200 members. Activities includes a weekly 30 kilometre cycling run every Sunday at 7 a.m., starting at the Hua Hin clock tower to various destinations: Khao Takiab or Khao Tao or Wat Huay Mongkhol Buddhist Temple or Boh Fai Community or Hua Hin Airport.
“As the Mayor of Hua Hin, I am pleased about the a new bicycle club and would like everyone who is over 30 years old to bike because it is a good exercise and an effective way to maintain health. Moreover, biking is environmentally friendly because it is energy saving and helps solve pollution problems. In China and many countries in Europe, people are encouraged to ride a bike. The bicycle club will also allow more local people in Hua Hin to use bicycles in the future,” said Mr. Nopporn.
The Hua Hin mayor also added that he was thinking about some more activities in conjunction with the Club. He will discuss this with restaurant owners in Hua Hin and ask them to give 10% discount to the bicycle club’s members who have a meal there. Doing so will encourage locals and tourists to bike more. Membership of the Hua Hin Bicycle Club is not limited to Thais, any foreigners who would like to become a Club’s members can complete registration at the Boh Fai Bicycle Club, the Naresuan Military Camp’s Historical Centre or the Hua Hin Municipality.
