Governor Praises Hua Hin as Host City
Governor Somkid Chantararuk expressed his gratitude to CIMB Thai Bank for selecting Hua Hin as the host city for this prestigious event. He emphasised the significance of the triathlon, which is set to attract athletes from across Thailand and internationally, making it one of the most important sporting events in the province this year.
“Triathlons are more than just sporting events—they drive tourism, support local communities, and boost economic activity,” the governor remarked. “Good health is the foundation of a high quality of life, and this event not only promotes health but also provides a significant economic boost for our hotels, restaurants, and vendors. We are committed to supporting and welcoming this positive initiative.”
CIMB Thai Bank’s Commitment to Sustainability
Ms. Nattanee Kasemratkul highlighted that the 2024 triathlon marks the fifth year of the CIMB Thai Triathlon. Organised in partnership with Summit Nish Co., Ltd., this year’s event embraces an eco-friendly theme, aligning with the bank’s commitment to sustainability.
“This year, we’ve integrated the principles of Reduce, Reuse, Recycle (3Rs) into the event. Initiatives include carpooling services to minimise emissions, souvenirs crafted from recycled materials, and comprehensive waste management systems,” Ms. Nattanee explained. “Participants will receive recycled polyester shirts, eco-friendly tote bags, and medals made from recycled aluminium. We will also calculate and offset the event’s carbon footprint.”
Ms. Nattanee also noted the triathlon’s growing popularity, with over 600 participants from Thailand, ASEAN nations, and more than 20 other countries. “We’ve designed a brand-new course to offer participants a fresh experience while maintaining our focus on sustainability and environmental awareness,” she added.
A Scenic and Challenging Course
Event organiser Mr. Chinthip Boonchokhiranyametha described the course as both challenging and picturesque. Athletes will swim in the pristine waters of Suan Son Beach, cycle along Phetkasem Road, and run through the serene pine forests.
“The course has been designed with safety and organisation as top priorities, thanks to support from local government agencies and private organisations,” Mr. Chinthip said. “Participants and their families can also enjoy special discounts on accommodation and meals, enhancing their experience and encouraging tourism in the area.”
