The Prachuab Khirikhan Police Commander, along with local police officers and military staff, is actively inspecting companies and entertainment venues in Hua Hin under a current project of human trafficking suppression. The Police Commander Pol. Maj. Gen. Kasana Jaemsawang said that the Thai government and the national police headquarters of Thailand had ordered all police stations in Thailand to keep an eye on trafficking of human according to the international treaty of the US and Europe concerning human trafficking, because some countries have been lately found to allow this illegal act to continue.
In this regard, the Prachuab Khirikhan and Hua Hin police, military staff and local administrators have recently visited and inspected several entertainment venues, industrial sites, hotels and fishing piers to see whether there exists any human trafficking or not. Moreover, they also informed entrepreneurs, businesspeople and hoteliers that recruitment of boys and girls under 18 years old to work either voluntarily or by force is strictly prohibited. Should it be necessary to hire foreign workers, especially those from Cambodia, Myanmar and Laos, to work in Thailand, employers must ask for permission to do so from the provincial labor office and the local police station. In addition, the Thai government and the national police headquarters of Thailand have lately sent police officers to randomly inspect restaurants and karaoke bars in Hua Hin because some complaints were filed concerning recruiting foreign girls to work as waitresses and sex workers at the same time.
Also, there were cases in which some foreign boys and girls were forced to work as street beggars, or Rohingya people were smuggled to Thailand to work for industrial sites or fishing business. Pol. Maj. Gen. Kasana added that, at present, police officers from the suppression unit of Hua Hin Police Office, led by Pol. Col. Chaiyakorn Sriladecho and Pol. Lt. Col. Samer Yusamran, were inspecting many areas in Hua Hin both in daytime and nighttime. So, people should trust the police officers that their work will not affect tourism activities and business here.
The inspection will last until April, 2015, for the sake of good living condition for both Thai and foreign people here. Besides human trafficking, the police officers in charge will be responsible for arresting any foreigners who commit crimes in the city, namely trafficking of human or drugs, forming of a mafia group or provoking national insecurity. Anyone who has information of such acts is suggested to inform police officers or concerned authorities as immediately as possible.
