New Semester at Wai Wan College

The Mayor of Hua Hin Mr. Nopporn Wutthikul has chaired the opening ceremony of Wai Wan College, an academic institution for seniors, at the Hua Hin Municipality. The ceremony was attended by municipal executives, school administrators, business people, members of local clubs and a group of local seniors. A report was delivered by the deputy mayor of Hua Hin Ms. Phailin Kongphan. The Wai Wan College has been established to develop and improve the lives of local seniors. The number of older people in the city increases every year and as many are staying alone all day, this has resulted in cases of depression.

The municipality launched the college to improve the lifestyles of older people by providing them with knowledge about how to take care of their health and boost physical and mental skills. This will enable them to realise how valuable they are and feel proud. This objective corresponds to the motto of the project; ‘getting old with value and pride’. The Wai Wan College will have classes every Wednesday for 16 weeks at the Hua Hin Municipality, Hua Hin Temple and the centre for the seniors’ activities in Soi Hua Hin 106, Nong Kae. The classes have both theoretical and practical activities, organised by several volunteer groups.
