Every year in November a big group of Norwegian tourist arrive in Cha-Am signaling a return to the good times; we are happy to report that this year is no different.
Once again golf is a big attraction with golfers in the group participating in the Wirkola Cup at local golf courses. The group is headed by legendary Norwegian and world skiing champion Bjorn Wikola, but golf is not the only entertainment or recreation they enjoy. The joy of Norwegian music and dance is provided by bunch of accompanying musical talent with the ‘Dansegalla’ (no translation necessary) being a main event. We headed to the main of venue in Soi Long Beach, on a day when the soi was turned into a walking street for the crowd of some 140 ‘gala-goers’. By special permission the band was playing as a welcome to very special guests of honour.
Not only were these Norwegians in Cha-Am as Wirkola Cup and Dansgalla participants but also as witnesses to the beach wedding of Hilde and Trond. It seems that the friendships made over years of coming to Cha-Am lead the happy couple to the conclusion that this was the only venue for their special day. Blue skies and white sands on the beach; absolutely perfect. Cha-Am is a great destination for travellers at any time of the year as this group of Norwegians recognise every year including the now newly-weds. Our congratulations to the these guests in Thailand and welcome everyone to the new tourism season.
