I’m sure many foreigners in the neighborhood know Rommai better than myself. It opened its door about three years ago. The restaurant has already bonded with quite some Thai and foreign regulars. Rommai is conveniently located in NongKae sub-district, opposite the famous Cicada Market.
From my own experience the food is of a high standard and many Thai dishes taste very good. At Rommai you can choose Thai dishes with steamed rice or choose an easy meal (one dish meal as known to Thais) and also popular western and Italian food.
Rommai uses good quality fresh ingredients for each any every dish they serve, Thai and International food alike. Prices range from 40-220 baht. Alcoholic drinks are also available. The owner, a middle aged man speaks good English, so it’s quite convenient for foreign customers.
Sitting here one Monday afternoon for lunch, I can tell from the numbers of its guests and from the mouthwatering dished arriving at my own table that this restaurant is another successful one.
If you arrive when the place is packed, it might take quite some time before you can get a table. Be patient, it’s absolutely worth the wait.
